Madison, Wis. - John W. Vaudreuil, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin, announced that Mike Lumbert, 30, Wausau, Wis., was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Barbara Crabb to 15½ years in prison for possessing crack cocaine with the intent to distribute it. Lumbert pleaded guilty to this charge on October 5, 2011.

Between November 2010 and January 2011, police officers used an informant to purchase crack cocaine from an individual on three occasions in Wausau. After arresting that individual on January 11, 2011, he agreed to call his source, Lumbert, to arrange for a delivery of crack cocaine. Lumbert was arrested on January 13, 2011, when he arrived at a local grocery store with approximately six grams of crack cocaine hidden in his pants.

Judge Crabb noted that Lumbert had four prior felony drug convictions which called for a lengthy prison term.

The charge against Lumbert was the result of an investigation conducted by the Marathon County Sheriff's Department, Special Investigations Unit. The prosecution of the case has been handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul W. Connell.
